Hi! My name is Rita, and I'm an English to European Portuguese translator with a Translation BA from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
From an early age, I was fascinated with languages, communication, and the sharing of information. Once I started traveling and finding stories from different places, it frustrated me that I couldn't easily share these wonderful new finds with my loved ones because there was a language barrier. I truly believe that great translation work is powerful and meaningful (well, I guess bad translation work could be powerful in its own way, but let us stay away from that particular brand of powerful).
Since I started my journey as a translator, I've been fortunate enough to gain experience in the fields of Audiovisual translation by translating and subtitling several films for an international film festival, and business translation by translating articles for a startup. Olá! Chamo-me Rita, sou tradutora e licenciei-me em tradução na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa.
Desde pequena que sempre tive um fascínio pelas línguas, pela comunicação e pela partilha de informação. A minha vida profissional levou-me para longe de Portugal e quanto mais viajava, mais histórias interessantes ia encontrando. Infelizmente, era difícil partilhar estes achados com as pessoas que mais amo, devido a uma barreira linguística. Sempre acreditei que a tradução é uma ferramenta poderosa e relevante.
Desde que decidi enveredar pelo caminho da tradução, ganhei experiência na área da tradução audiovisual, através da tradução e legendagem de filmes para um festival internacional de cinema, e na área empresarial, através da tradução de vários artigos para uma empresa emergente.
